Workplace Assessments

Many people seen for physiotherapy treatment work at computers\laptops\VDU's. This type of work can contribute to many symptoms:-

Headaches, neck pain, arm pain, thoracic pain, pins and needs in arms.

Sometimes the lay out of the equipment can be at fault and be a huge component of these symptoms.

All pieces of a workstation need addressing:-

  • Chair - support and height. Is a footstool required. Are the armrests adjustable.
  • Keyboard - positioning - type used in relation to workload.
  • Mouse - type and position for task.
  • Monitor - position and height.
  • Workspace.
  • Job to be performed.

Laptop positioning is slightly different but the same principles apply.

This type of assessment can be part of treatment at the Clinic.

If requested by employers it can be more formal at the workplace with the inclusion of a written report.
