Modified Tai Chi Classes with Cath Heynes

Tai Chi was developed in China as a martial art in the 17th Century. There are several different forms of Tai Chi but the exercises we practice in the class are based on the Chi Kung style.

Tai Chi Class in progress

Tai Chi is a form of gentle exercise using rhythmic patterns of movement to promote coordination, control, balance and strength. The exercises I teach are adapted from traditional Tai Chi to make them more accessible for everyone. Most of the exercises are done in a standing position however, if you find standing difficult it is possible to exercise in a chair.

The 45 minute class is friendly and informal and caters for all ages and abilities. No previous experience of Tai Chi is necessary, just a willingness to join in and give it a go!

You should wear loose clothing (trousers are better than skirts, ladies) and flat shoes, or bare feet. Before you start the class you will need to complete a question sheet about your general health so I am aware of any problems we may need to consider for you to take part in the class safely.
