Dizziness

Dizziness is a symptom that can be associated with inner ear problems and sometimes headaches. It can be related to a sensation of falling over, to severe spinning vertigo. Patients can describe a light-headedness or cotton wool sensation. They may have difficulties in shops or crowds with moving escalators or on ferries.

This may have followed an inner ear infection or a road traffic accident involving a knock to the head. It can lead to neck pain and headaches and poor posture. If the neck stiffens up due to lack of movement this can be more painful.

If there is a problem with the balance mechanism within the inner ear this will affect eyesight and perception of movement.

There are specific exercises that can help these symptoms along with balance work appropriate for each individual.
