Breathing

Normal breathing patterns and balanced body chemistry are basic ingredients of good health.

What is "normal breathing"?

  • IS IT slow at rest 10/12 breaths per minute?
  • IS IT "small breaths"?
  • IS IT breathing down into the stomach?

IT SHOULD BE!
If not, there is something amiss.

Breathing high in the chest and breathing too fast can become quite natural but it is not correct, causing fatigue, etc as it upsets the blood chemistry due to altered oxygen/carbon dioxide gas exchange.

The muscle work of high chest breathing results in neck and shoulder problems often including tension headaches. Changing the habit is not easy and help may be needed.

Breathing well can then become the habit of a lifetime and it is achievable.

Individuals with respiratory disease; COPD, asthma etc, often achieve remarkable improvement in their quality of life as they learn to use their lungs to their optimum level and capacity.
