A biomechanical assessment is normally carried out when there is a recurring and overuse type sports injury to the lower limb. Injuries such as Achilles tendinopathy, shin splints and kneecap pain that are not settling as quickly as they should. The assessment involves looking away from the injured area at other contributing factors. These may include looking at :-
It may also be necessary to discuss training patterns and footwear. Treatment may then include an exercise or stretching programme, a change of footwear and or provision of orthotics. |
